‘’Dracula was
what the locals called Nosferatu, the Un-Dead. You may more readily recognize
the creature by its common name :vampire.’’
I quoted from the book ‘’DRACULA THE UN-DEAD’’ by Dacre Stoker and Ian
Holt.
It seemed to be
a continuing story from DRACULA ( a horror novel by the Irish writer Bram Stoker. The novel was
first published in England in 1897.)
Its plot is mainly about A young
solicitor named Jonathan Harker travels to Transylvania to
sell a house to a nobleman named Dracula. He soon realizes that the Count is a
vampire. Dracula traps Harker in his castle, and travels to England. He then
preys on the young woman Lucy Westenra, and turns her into a vampire. Then he
bites Jonathan's wife Mina. Because of this, the other characters, led by
Professor Abraham van Helsing, go on a mission to find and kill Dracula.
Other famous adaptations of Dracula :
§ 1922, Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des
Grauens (Nosferatu, a Symphony of Horror). First adaptation of
the novel. Directed by F. W. Murnau.
Max Schreck has the role of Count Orlok.
They could not get permission to use the actual story from Stoker's widow, who
ordered many copies of the film to be destroyed, after its release and the
people are found.
§ 1931, Dracula. Horror, directed by Tod Browning and stars Béla Lugosi as
Dracula.
§ 1958, Horror of Dracula. Horror,
stars Christopher Lee as Count Dracula.
§ 1979, Dracula. Horror, stars Frank Langella as Dracula.
§ 1979, Love at first bite. Comedy,

§ 1992, Bram Stroker's Dracula. Horror

Dracula.
§ Dracula: Dead and Loving it.
Comedy, directed by Mel Brooks and stars Leslie Nielsen as Count Dracula.
§ Van Helsing is a 2004 movie that has Hugh Jackman as
the title character (Gabiel Van Helsing) and Richard Boxburgh as Count Vladislaus
Dracula.
As for vampire….
According to tradition, a vampire is a person who does not die, an
"un-dead," whose corpse rises from the grave at night and seeks to
suck the blood of the living. The vampire must return to the grave at dawn.
Vampires were once people but have a supernatural curse.
Some vampires must drink blood to survive. They do this by biting people or
animals on the neck with their two long fangs. People who are killed by having
their blood drank by vampires may also become vampires. Others can live off the
life energy of people. In many stories, vampires can change into other animals,
usually bats,
though also wolves, cats or rats.

Dracula has influenced how the modern West views vampires that it can be said
that the characteristics of Dracula are the characteristics of all vampires.
Dracula will be burned by the sun, warded off by a cross, garlic, or holy
water. He sleeps in his coffin during the day that is filled with his native
Transylvanian dirt. He can turn into a bat at will. He has amazing powers of
seduction and wills his victims to voluntarily give their throats to him.
Summary:
1.Vampires and Dracula are undead creatures that suck the blood of humans.
2.The image and characteristics of Dracula have influenced Western perception of all vampires.
3.The historic roots of vampires go far back into the human consciousness and are connected with superstition and ancestor worship whereas Dracula specifically finds his ancestry in the historic person of Vlad the Impaler.
